Easy Allergy Friendly Main To Get You Started: Lamb with Tomato and Herbs

I vividly remember the feeling of coming home from hospital with our daughter's new allergy diagnosis, looking in the cupboards and bursting into tears with fear, not knowing what on earth were we going to eat for dinner that night.

At Allergy Well this is exactly how we don't want you to ever feel. We understand that cooking for someone with allergies can be a scary and daunting prospect and hope that our recipes will help alleviate some of this fear.

This lamb meal is truly delicious and so quick and easy to prepare. The addition of chickpeas add a little extra fibre to your day as well as being a great source of nutrients.


  • 400g lamb, diced

  • 1 Tbsp canola or olive oil

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, diced

  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes

  • 170g tin tomato paste

  • 1 courgette, roughly diced

  • 400g tin chickpeas, drained and rinsed

  • 2 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped or 1 tsp dried

  • 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped or 1/2 tsp dried

  • 1 tsp salt


  • Heat oil in a large frypan

  • Add onion and garlic and lightly fry for 2 minutes

  • Add lamb and courgette and brown for 5 minutes

  • Add chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, chickpeas, herbs and salt and combine

  • Simmer covered for 10 minutes

Serve with rice or home made roast potatoes with your choice of salad or vegetables
